Newly elected US President Donald Trump has nominated Scott Bassent for the post of Finance Minister in the next administration. He will lead on important issues such as US tax policy, government debt, international financing and sanctions.

 Scott Bassent is a renowned Wall Street investor. He once worked for Hungarian-American businessman and tycoon George Soros. Scott has supported Trump since the start of the 2024 presidential campaign.

 Scott Bassent praised Trump during the campaign and told voters that Trump is going to usher in a new golden age. That would be deregulation, cheaper fuel and lower taxes.

 Announcing the name of Scott Bassent as Secretary of Finance, Trump said in a post on his Social Truth yesterday, "Scott is widely respected as one of the world's most famous international investors and geopolitical and economic strategists."

 Trump also said, "He (Scott) is a longtime supporter of the "America First Agenda." By supporting my policies, he will advance America's competitiveness and end unfair trade imbalances.''

 Yesterday, Trump announced the name of 56-year-old Lori Chavez-Deremer as Secretary of Labor in the next administration of the United States. This Republican politician is an elected member of the US House of Representatives from Oregon. He has the support of trade unions.
